RetailMeNot is a coupon and cash-back site with a browser extension. A code can change checkout today. Cash back, if it tracks, shows up later in a RetailMeNot balance.
RetailMeNot publishes promo codes and cash-back offers for a wide set of stores, and it promotes a browser extension that looks for both while you shop. That combination is the reason shoppers open it: one place to try a code and, on participating stores, to stack a rebate.
The two savings are not equal. A working code should change the retailer's order summary before you pay. Cash back is a rebate RetailMeNot says it deposits after a tracked purchase. Its own cash-back instructions say you need an account, you activate an offer, you shop the store, and the balance is not spendable cash until it is approved and redeemed.
RetailMeNot's cash-back page describes a wait of about 45 days before approved cash can be sent to PayPal or Venmo. Extension store copy has also advertised a large merchant list and has said RetailMeNot may earn a commission on purchases. Treat those as the company's statements. Icy Coupons did not retest the full merchant list.
Codes and cash back are different tools

Activate the offer, shop through RetailMeNot, and wait for the purchase to track. RetailMeNot says approved cash can move to PayPal or Venmo.
Stacking
RetailMeNot markets cash back on top of eligible codes and sales. The store can still block a second promo code. Read the offer, not the headline.
The extension
The extension is designed to test codes and attach cash back at checkout. It needs browser access. Install it only if you want that help.
Exclusions
A code can exclude sale items, gift cards, or a brand in the cart. Cash back can exclude the same order if tracking cookies are blocked.
Commission
RetailMeNot discloses that it may be paid when you buy through its links. A paid placement is not the same thing as a tested saving on your cart.
What to check before you trust an offer
Open the store page and read the restriction next to the code: minimum spend, new customers, excluded departments, and an end date if one is shown. Then apply the code on the retailer site. If the total does not move, try the next eligible offer or skip it. Do not keep a worse code just because the extension selected it.
For cash back, confirm you started from the activated offer and that you did not open the store in a way that drops tracking. RetailMeNot's own steps put redemption after approval, not at the card charge. A 45-day wait, if that is still the rule when you shop, means the rebate cannot rescue an order you cannot afford today.
Compare that delay with an instant promo-code platform if you only needed today's price. If you want the rebate, keep the code that actually lowered the cart and treat cash back as a second, conditional saving.
Who it fits, and who should look elsewhere
RetailMeNot fits shoppers who will use both a code and a rebate, and who will wait for the rebate. It is a poor fit if you dislike extensions or if you need the discount before you pay. In that case, use the code only, and ignore the cash-back balance.
