Local vouchers
Buy the deal, open My Groupons, and follow How to Use. Many local vouchers are shown on the phone. Some must be booked.
Groupon sells discounted local services, activities, travel, and goods. A traditional Groupon is a voucher you buy first. Groupon+ is a separate card-linked reward. Neither is a promo code for a normal online store.
Groupon is a marketplace for prepaid deals. You pay Groupon a discounted price, receive a voucher, and redeem it with the business. Local deals, goods, and travel each have their own restrictions. Groupon's help pages say the fine print is the section that states how many vouchers you can buy, when the promotional value expires, and whether you must book ahead.
That is the opposite of a store coupon you paste at Nike or a grocery site. You are buying Groupon's offer, then using the merchant. If the merchant's hours, location, or menu do not match the voucher, the discount is not usable, even if the charge to Groupon succeeded.
Groupon+ is a second product. Groupon's card-linked terms describe offers you claim, pay for at the full price with a linked card, and later receive as a statement credit, Groupon Bucks, or another stated reward. From January 1, 2025, Groupon says an unpaid reward can expire after 12 months without a qualifying transaction, and the Groupon+ account can close after 36 months without one. Cash already applied to the card does not expire under that clause.
Use the path that matches the offer. Mixing them up is the usual reason a Groupon 'coupon' fails.

Goods deals and getaways have their own fine print. Groupon says some goods, gift cards, and third-party deals are excluded from promo codes.
Groupon says you enter a promo after you press Buy, under Promo or Gift Code. Codes are case-sensitive. Some deals say they are not eligible.
Link an eligible card, claim the offer if the deal requires a claim, and pay the merchant with that card. The reward comes later, not as a lower menu price.
Read limits per person, new-client rules, blackout dates, and what the voucher excludes, such as tax, tip, or alcohol.
A local deal can be valid at one address. Groupon shows a map. A voucher for the wrong neighborhood does not travel with you.
On a local deal, read What You Get and the fine print. Note the expiration of the promotional value, whether an appointment is required, and how many you can buy. On a goods deal, read the product details the same way. Groupon's help text says a countdown means the deal is closing, and a sold-out button means you cannot buy it now.
If you have a Groupon promo code, check that this deal is eligible before you assume the code stacks. Groupon says electronics goods, most gift-card deals, and deals that send you to another website are often excluded.
For Groupon+, claim the offer before you pay if the deal says to claim it. Pay with the linked card. A different card will not earn the reward. This is closer to a rebate than to a coupon code, which is why it belongs next to the cashback comparison, not next to a printable grocery coupon.
Groupon fits someone buying a local service, an activity, or a specific goods deal and willing to read the voucher rules. It does not fit someone who wants a code for a normal retailer checkout. Use Slickdeals or a promo-code site for that. Travel offers on Groupon should be read like any other travel coupon: dates, occupancy, and fees can erase the headline price.
Icy Coupons read the public site on September 29, 2026. We did not run a checkout test of every offer, and we did not assign a star score. A code, voucher, or reward is only useful if the final total, or the later payout, matches the terms. Read how we review coupon websites and the affiliate disclosure before you treat any savings page as advice.
No. A classic Groupon is a voucher you purchase, then redeem with the business. A promo code on Groupon only adjusts what you pay Groupon, and only if that deal allows it.
Groupon+ is a card-linked offer. You link a card, claim the deal when required, pay the merchant full price, and receive a reward later if the purchase qualifies.
On the deal page, in the fine print under the offer details. Check quantity limits, expiration, booking rules, and excluded items before you buy.
No. Groupon says codes are case-sensitive and that some deals, including many gift cards and some goods, are excluded.
